Habits are hard. No, but really. This idea of 30 days to a habit formed- or even 60 or 90- is a bit off somehow. I've had habits I thought were solid, ones that went on for 5-6 months nearly every day, that have gone by the wayside. Maybe it's that "nearly daily" part that gets me, but hey- some days are just going to be like that, right?
Anyway, it's been a week since my last rambling. Figured it's time for another one, eh? The "#1" in the title really says a lot about my expectations, right? No, but really, I should name it Repeated Random Rambling, because I do expect this to be a regular thing. Ooh, Regular Repeated Random Rambling! I love alliteration!
What's the point in my rambles? Well, hopefully they'll help create a good habit of regular writing as well as provide ample opportunity for the odd gem-like idea to manifest. Gotta mine a lot of dirt and stone to get to the diamonds! Or emeralds, or gold, you know, whatever. So let's sift through a bit of dirt, shall we? Hey there, wandering scrollers, friends, lovable internet family. Today I'm going to bring up an important self-care practice not many talk about. I call it "self-gratitudation," but it probably has other names. And until recently, I didn't even know it existed.
Let's be clear, it's not some far-out concept or anything. But you may not have thought about this practice yourself, much less considered the benefits of actually trying it. In fact, at first glance it may sound like something a little profane, or maybe narcissistic at best. |
